Cross Cut Hip Placement Direction And Flow

$2.99

Product Description

In this 2 minute and 26 second video lesson David Islam introduces a very technical exercise that focuses on the hips and will help you maintain directional flow on the ice when performing cross cuts.

David begins by having Sierra perform two foot lunges around a circle. Her left leg glides on a forward outside edge as her right leg pushes backward but does not leave the ice. David has her drive her right hip forward as she pushes backward with her right foot and has her body rotate strongly toward the center of the circle in order to help keep her hips squared.

Next David has Sierra add an extra move to this exercise. After completing three lunges around the circle, David has her hold her position for a second or two. He then has her left and extend her right leg while making sure to keep her right hip forward and maintain the squared hips position.

David notes that this is very hard to do, as lifting the leg will tend to draw the hip back, making it difficult to keep the hips squared. Keeping the body rotated strongly toward the center of the circle when lifting the leg will help overcome the pull on the right hip.
