Triple Loop Step And Draw

Product Description

Please note that Robert begins this 2 minute and 26 second video lesson with the understanding that you are already able to land a double loop.

Robert describes the loop entry position: a glide backward with the back free foot resting on the skating foot and the arms in front in a letter “L” position, the front arm somewhat lower than the right. He then steps and draws the opposite leg in behind so we are up into the knee, with both legs in contact with one another. Ideally, this connection should occur somewhere between the knee and hip, which helps keep the body weight centered over the top of the take-off leg.

From this position you want to bend your back knee so that you feel like you are sitting back on a bench or chair. This should be a nice, slow, fluid motion. As we begin pressing the take-off leg into the ice and our take-off edge begins to curve, we allow our core to begin to turn and our arms to bend and touch together at the wrists, the right hand resting atop the left. Once the arms make contact we want our free leg to rise up off the ice. Keep in mind that the right elbow and left knee should be aligned and moving in sync with one another.

As we begin the turn from backward to forward, we push our arms and free leg upward into the take-off and then we bring them back down and into a back spin position. Robert emphasizes the importance of releasing upward into the take-off after pressing downward into the ice with the skating leg.

End this exercise in a nice landing position with the head aligned over the right shoulder
