This is the fourth lesson in Brian Orser’s 8 part series on “Speed For Free”. Brian focuses on keeping your weight over your feet to get the maximum run on your blade. He talks about finding “that happy place” on your blade. He talks about how to speed up and accelerate when you change edges.
He then explains how to use your arms to gain speed. You can all get “Speed for Free” if you follow these simple exercises. He shows how he actually got “speed for free” himself when he skated.
Brian then goes to backward glides and explains and demonstrates how to gain speed using your knees and ankles. He shows when and how to push. This will give your skating rythym and power. It really will give you “Speed for Free”.
