Double Axel Edge Entry

Product Description

Doug discusses the correct take-off, landing and air position for the double axel in this 3 minute and 21 second video lesson. After failing to land a double axel, our demonstrator shows us a landing exercise at the boards. She begins by facing the glass with her weight on her left toe pick, her right leg crossed and tucked behind. This is the position she should attain in the air just prior to landing her double axel. She finishes the exercise by pivoting counter clockwise and “snapping”, transferring her weight to the toe pick of her right (landing) leg. Her left (free) leg is now crossed over and in front, ready to be extended in order to ”check” (stop the rotation of) her jump.

Doug takes the demonstrator out onto the ice and supports and positions her as she practices the correct take-off position. He then plays a recording of her double axel in slow motion and analyzes the take-off, air, and landing positions.
