Toe Loop Take Off Exercise Off Your Heel

Product Description

Michelle uses this 2 minute 39 second video to teach us an excellent toe loop take-off exercise.

Michelle asks us to begin by stepping onto a left forward inside edge, take a push forward and then complete a three turn. We then straighten our free leg and extend it backward and place the toe on the ice.

The next step is very important. The skater must draw the skating (front) foot backward toward the toe. Once the foot is beside the pick, we flex it so that the toe is pointing upward and the heel is resting on the ice. The heel pushes the foot up and off of the ice and becomes the free leg, which then swings around counter-clockwise as the toe pick pushes off the ice. This initiates the jump’s rotation. Once rotation is complete we finish with a nice clean landing.

Applying this technique will avoid many common problems and will serve you well on single, double, triple and even quad toe loops.
